Show How you Really Are

Good afternoon all. It’s a cold blustery day in Western PA today. We alternate between sun and white-out snow squalls today. Some snow over the weekend, but nothing too concerning. I am looking forward to more consistent Spring weather!

Today my topic is about showing your true self. We always want to be strong, we always want to be right, we always want to be positive and smiling! However, Romans and John remind us that we are utterly helpless, we are human, we are full of flaws and imperfections. We should not put on airs of superiority and we should show up with our imperfections and love one another in our church. We need to be vulnerable and ask for help. We must allow others to be vulnerable too and understand where everyone is and accept one another where they are. We are not here to judge but to love one another! Our church is for “real” people. Bring your true self, including your joys, your sorrows, your fears, your strengths, and your weaknesses. God loves you as you are. Don’t hide your struggles, failures, or problems.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” (Romans 5: 6)

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3: 16)

Is there another scripture verse that speaks to you regarding our human condition?

Ideas for Action: This week, sit down with or talk to another member by phone and share one area of struggle, failure, or a fear you have.
